    This question may be related to a resolved thread.

    Hi

    We’re building a client site in EE 2.1.0 with a products section where one of the products features a ‘plus’ symbol in the name.

    Whenever we add some content via the control panel that features a plus character EE strips it out, although seems to be fine when going into plain text/textarea custom fields or the WYGWAM custom fieldtype. Saying that we are experiencing the same problem using the WYMEditor fieldtype (although will take this up with Brian separately).

    We are experiencing this same issue across two separate EE builds (both 2.1.0), the common Add-ons for each are as follows:

    Extensions

    * WYMEditor
    * Freebie

    Modules

    * Structure
    * WYGWam

    Can you shed any light onto the cause and solution to this problem?

    Regards

    Cole

    Hi Cole,

    Plusses in the title seem to be a known bug that has been fixed for the next release.

    There’s a workaround posted here:

    http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/163877/

    for now.

    I cannot reproduce the problem in any other field apart from the title, though, so there seems to be another problem. I had Structure installed, so you might be able to rule that out.

    Thanks for quick response Andrew

    Have tried Susan’s workaround (although it is incorrect - html entity for plus is + not &44;) and works fine until you bring Structure into the equation which returns Basixs+ rather than Basixs+

    Update, character encoding problem with special characters. Just to say html entity for plus should be

    +
    not
    &44;

    Ho hum - is there a timescale for the next release?

    I actually never figured out what extension was causing the problem on my install… Fortunately, I was able to ignore the bug and move on to other things (I rarely post entries with plus signs).

    Glad to hear that it is a known bug and will be fixed next release though. 😊

    <totally-OT> I hope the date/time field gets some upgrades too… Seems like I can never just type a date/time (or was it the AM/PM bit, I can’t remember of the top of my head) into one, or both, of those fields when using Firefox on my Mac. </totally-OT>

    I love EE2 though! Keep up the excellent work EE peeps!

    I am glad you seem to have found a workaround for now. As Andrew said, this bus should have been fixed for the next release.
