    Hi everyone,

I’m puzzled… There’s something going on with the speed of my EE website.

So far I’ve buit one website with EE, and I’m loving it so far. It’s the most powerful and agile CMS i’ve ever used 😊

The site i’ve built for a client is currently running on wishingwellwest.com/nieuw . And i’ve noticed how extremely long it takes until a page is loaded. Sometimes it takes as much as 30 to 50 seconds! On average 10 seconds, and sometimes it takes 5 tot 7 seconds.

Last weeks I’ve tried everything to optimize the code, cache, reduce queries and so on. It doesn’t really help.

So as a last resort, I copied the site and moved it to my own server. Result: blazingly fast!! Loading times under 1 second. See for yourselft at fatpixel.nl/stichtingwww

The site wishingwellwest.com/nieuw is hosted with Strato (http://www.strato.nl/)
The site fatpixel.nl/stichtingwww is hosted with HostingXS (http://www.hostingxs.nl/)

I’m guessing something on server configuration or database level is causing the loading time.

Does anyone have experience with hosting at Strato? Or does anyone have an idea what causes these speed issues? Maybe another webhost that had speed issues but managed to fix them?

Any information is more than welcome.

I consider server tuning one of the black arts. 😊 I don’t have any experience with Strato, but in my experience, you find a good web host and stick with them. I can move this to the General forum if you’d like additional community support..

    Hi Sue,

If you want to move it to the general forum, please do!

Hopefully someone in the community has some tips.

Are you getting similar behavior using the control panel? (There are perf stats at the bottom of the cp pages0.

Is Strato hosting the webservice and database service on the same machine? Is it possible the database service is running on a different server (or worst case, a server that is in a different location)?

Sounds silly, but my host did this with one of our setups by accident and the result was similar to this, i.e., pages took 3-5 seconds to render.
