we’ve developed the Simple S3 Uploader fieldtype that allows you to store the files uploaded to your entries on Amazon S3.  Others have made cloud file browsers for rackspace and I think a couple other services that I can’t think of right at the moment.

Thank you, ender. Does that answer your question, Vikas?

I’m curious about this as well.  Does anyone know of any alternatives to the Simple S3 plugin?  I’m looking to integrate a non-amazon CDN with a few sites.

We use a CDN on almost every EE site we roll out. What you want is a pull zone CDN. With a pull zone the CDN pulls your content from your server and then distributes it to its edge locations. That way, you don’t have to manually sync anything with the CDN. So, for instance with MaxCDN we create a subdomain for static content like CSS files, JavaScript, and design images. We create another for content-based files like images. During development we keep the subdomain local but when we go live we update the CNAME to point to the CDN and the CDN to the appropriate sub-directories on our sites. The CDN syncs up over time. Note that videos are usually best suited and only feasible with push zones though.

    Hi barrel,

There are a few more related add-ons available on devot-ee.com where you might find an alternative

Going to move this to the Community Help forum to keep the thread open for you

Thanks for the help guys.  Sorry for the late reply.  This should keep us busy for the time being.

    Greetings ~

I’m looking for something in a similar vein. We’d like to setup member photo galleries, and have the images post to our S3 account. As far as I can tell, we’re limited to tying images to entries in order to have them associated with a particular member. We’d like to pass this hurdle, as with our user base, this’ll create way way too many entries.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Are there other options outside of ExpressionEngine that might make sense? We’d like each member to have the ability to upload images via Front End (Safecracker) and then edit the data for each image (title, location, tags). Problem with Safecracker + Channel Images, as mentioned in above paragraph is the entry tie.

    Cheers,
    Scott
