Hi morethanfire,
Are you referring to the default site theme that ships with EE 1.x? That would require a re-install as it’s more than templates, but also weblogs, fields, categories, etc. and the default templates will not display properly without that other data.
If you download the latest EE 1.x package you should be able to look at the templates pretty easily, though.
