    Hello,

For some reason the File Manager in v2.1.0 Build 20100810 is not working properly. Sometimes I can upload file, sometimes I can’t. One thing is for sure, when I go to choose file, select it, it will upload it automatically without showing it selected by the choose file button. You’ll just see that the file has been uploaded if you scroll down. You don’t have to press Upload. Sometimes when it doesn’t work (about 50%). It will just give me an error message stating “You did not select a file to upload.” Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Kelly

I’m running in to this same issue.  Expression engine 2.0 build 20100720.  I have seen the behavior on both Firefox and IE when trying to upload an image using the File Manager.  It works sometimes, but throws the “You have not selected a file to upload.” more often than not.

The files in question are JPG’s weighing in at ~10k, so i’m sure it’s not a file size issue.  The same file will fail one time, and work another.

Happy to supply more information if anyone can help solve this.

    Thanks in advance.

I’m having the same issues. I’m using 2.1 Freelancer build 20100712 on windows 7 ultimate. I tried it with IE, Chrome, and FF and its all the same.

It just keeps showing that the file (in this case an image) is uploading and it’ll sit there like that.

    briansnyder & resonate4fe,

Can ye both upgrade to the most recent build please?

Is everyone’s a fresh install or an upgrade?

Are any of you working with a local development?

Can you all run our Server Wizard please?

I’m running into a similar problem. The file uploader just hangs. No errors given, but the file is never uploaded. The problem seems to, for me at least, be only with an upgraded installation of EE 2.1 (upgraded from 1.6…9(?) straight to 2.1, as I needed to import MT posts into the 1.6 install first). I’ve checked file permissions, file upload settings, etc, and can’t seem to track down the cause. Any thoughts or settings I might be overlooking? Also, the process worked fine on the same server, with the same browser (Safari 5) with a clean install (however, I needed the import functionality of 1.6).

Can everyone confirm it is just for the File Manager?
What happens if you use a File custom field in the Publish page?
Is everybody using GD as the Image Resizing Protocol?

I found the problem actually to be limited to Safari. The file manager actually worked very rarely for me in Safari, I think the time I saw it work first (in the clean install) was almost a fluke. It seems to me the problem has to do with the File <input> in the file manager. For me, in Safari, after selecting a file, the file input field is never populated with a value (it always reads “no file selected”). Every once in a while I would get an error from EE saying “no file selected,” and every great once in a while it would actually just work, and upload a file. But, a majority of the time it would just hang, neither giving an error nor uploading a file. It seems to work fine for me in FF, however.

    Pretty Clever,

Would you be able to come back to me on my previous questions here and here please?

What version and build of EE are you using?
What version of Safari are you using?

    Same issues for me.

In the file manager, I upload a file and the interface just spins. Occasionally the stall is only for a minute, then it displays error : upload_no_file_selected. In either case, the file IS actually uploaded.

From within the publish page, uploading goes as expected without error. However, clicking on any image does nothing. So there’s no way to actually insert the image URL into a field.

Same goes for just inserting an image without uploading first. Clicking a thumbnail within the file upload modal box does nothing.

Tested with both Firefox 3.6 and Safari 5.0.1
    EE 2.1 build 20100810

This install is an upgrade from 1.6.8 > 2.1

Happy to provide more info if necessary. Site I’m working on requires this feature.

    Thanks.

    Hi PNCA_webteam,

What kind of server is your site running on? Have you run the Server Wizard on our Requirements page in the documentation?

    Cheers

I may have reported a similar issue this morning.

I’m curious, can you click on thumbnails to add filetypes like .txt, .pdf, etc? I’m able to add files of any type EXCEPT .png, .gif, and .jpg.

I am having similar issues with uploading files over 10Mb - I’m being told “upload_no_file_selected”

10Mb is the default limit imposed by my host, Site5 but I have extended this in my php.ini to go to 30Mb (site5 have verified that it should work) but I am still encountering the error. I have also specified 31457280 bytes in the upload cap section in the setting too. Site5 have suggested it is a script issue.

I am using EE v2.1.0 and tried it in latest versions of Chrome and Firefox

I’ve run the install wizard and everything checked out perfect. I’m running this upgraded install on Ubuntu 9.10.

@tripp: Interesting. When I upload a .txt file, the File Manager still hangs indefinitely (although the file actually uploads) and I am able to insert it into a publish form as expected. But not any image type.
