hi all. I love the design of the new EE2.1 and waited a long time. I also took the chance to clean my old site (EE169 - http://www.s44.at) with clear and fresh code and templates. everything went fine and I started to manually migrate the selected old content to the new running installation.

after about a day updating the content (every link worked perfect and as expected - also controlled everything after each new entry) the links broke after a new entry today.

also deleted already this entry and made another one - always the same. seems, that there is a problem with a several amount of entries - which I think cannot really be the problem.

here ist my new developed >>> site: http://www.s44.at/blog/index.php

if you avoid the latest entry (>>> eternal moonwalk) everything still works perfect. showing the permalink of >>> ‘eternal moonwalk’ breaks all links and i get error 403 page.

    do you have any hints?

(I do have Playa installed > the only third party extension by now)

well actually added some more entries and they are working as they should.

the one (eternal moonwalk) still don’t work (showing correctly but the links lead to a error 403 page)

    very curious

A 403 error is usually a server configuration issue: Your server has received and understood the request but was configured to deny it. Make sure you change your configuration accordingly.

funny, that most of the recent newly added entries (about 60+) work fine. just 3 aren’t, and i can’t figure out why.

thank you, ingmar, for your input. i will discuss this with my hosting-provider.

Here I am again. It ist so curious, that it is hard to explain. I normally have no porblems, when creating new entries - everything works fine. I can upload pictures, write text, use my plugins (matrix, imgsizer) and the articles work just fine.

just from time to time I make a new entry and it doesn’t work. I can see it on my index-page - going to the permalink is fine as well (while safari suddenly doesn’t show some pics - which are fine in firefox)

but all the links are somehow broken (even, if they are correct). so when I copy one link and paste it directly into the browser, it works fine - if I click them, I get the 403 error - or the site without any css-templates.

I am really confused and have no idea. Fortunately it happens only every 100th entry. But even if I make another article writing the same content a second time (without copy and paste), the broken still will be broken. A new one may work (well, did so far)

I am not quite sure if this in any way can just be as well a cause of EE - because every other article works just as it should - without any changes on the server.

My only thought it, that it might happen with some black-listed words (spamfilter or so) - within the server system (which is a mac os server, 10.6.4) or with some build in routines of EE.

    Does anybody have any ideas/hints?

    R.,

Is there some specific content that you can put in an entry which will break the output consistently? If you’re using URL rewriting to remove index.php from your URLs, please disable that when testing.

Like Ingmar, I’d suspect a server configuration issue. See if you can check the server’s error logs for more detailed information regarding each 403 error.

thank you brandon for your advice. I already tried to figure out if it could be some part of the content. but haven’t found something obvious. same pictures (in jpg or png format), same link-style, same text-style, same single or multiple categories, ...

and as I mentioned - the incredible thing is - that other entries (fortunately 99%) work perfect - just some for any reason don’t. this ist, while I am not sure, that it is just a server issue (but I am not an expert)

And it seems, that I am here the only one having those specific troubles. so this speaks for the server issue. or my programming lacks. (or not seeing the specific thing breaking the content)

all the links are correct - just they are not shown or interpretated correctly (just from time to time) - maybe also a cache issue?

Does the same text fails consistently? If you have a failing entry and you copy & paste that text into a new one, does it also fail?

Are you on the latest version and build? Can you show us a link to one such entry?

    Hi Ingmar.

I once copied the text into a complete entry - because I thought, that maybe this will correct the misbehaviour. But this didn’t work either. Than I wrote a complete new entry, just to see, if there is anything corrupt with some textparts (some parts have been copied from a webpage text) - but this new entry with complete new and selfwritten text still didn’t work. Maybe there ist some mistake with a picture. but if I enter the source of a picture directly into the browser-bar it shows perfectly and correct.

here is a link (back dated) to this entry:
    http://www.s44.at/blog/index.php/blog/permalink/leichtgewichtige_und_modische_regenjacke_von_finisterre

the entry shows - pictures of related entries at the bottom don’t show - also not a picture-gallery with matrix

I also already tried to turn off and on, with and without related entries without success - and in other entries this just work as it should. here for example: http://www.s44.at/blog/index.php/blog/permalink/hardgraft_stylische_huellen_fuer_macs_ipads_iphones_co

if you look at the broken entry-permalink and klick any link (eg menu) - I get the 403 error. If I hit reload, the requested page shows just fine - so the link is correct.

    Thank you for checking.

So the same text fails consistently, correct? There also seem to be some permission issues, I am getting a lot of “Access forbidden!” errors.

If you look at the broken entry-permalink and klick any link (eg menu) - I get the 403 error. If I hit reload, the requested page shows just fine - so the link is correct.

Reloading does not fix it for me. That said, a “403 Forbidden” error is always a server issue. Please check your web server logs to see why accessing this particular image is not allowed.

thank you ingmar for your patience. I will check this with someone familiar with the server and will reply, when we found out something.

why this is so interesting and confusing, because I just did the post of the entry exactly the same way (via cp) as any other (working) post.

    I will keep you informed.
