I followed all the procedures in the upgrade guide and when I go to mysite.com\system, it goes to the install a new copy of EE page where I have to enter in all my information again including license #, database name, admin name, admin email, setting up a new account, etc.
I was moreso expecting it to see my database and just let me hit an Update button of some sort, not setup a whole brand new site.  Is this normal??

I have done an upgrade before from 2.0.1 to 2.0.2 and I don’t recall it making me setup my whole site again from scratch.  It just did the updates on the database.

Luckily I have backed all my site and am able to restore it back to 2.0.2 successfully.
I have a unique setup with my system folder being renamed to something else and its OUTSIDE of my /public_html/ folder.

Is it normal for me to be having to setup a whole new site instead of an upgrade to my existing site?

How exactly did you attempt to upgrade?

    I followed these steps here:
    http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/installation/update.html

Except on step 4 where it says:
Page 2 of the Update Wizard - Versions

After you “click here to begin” the wizard will run some pre-tests and confirm what version you are on, and what version it is updating you to.
Page 3 of the Update Wizard - Updating

When you click update, the wizard will proceed with updating your database.

I do not get to this screen at all where it lets me do the update.  It simply goes to the screen where I’m creating a new site, and wants me to enter in all my information including key again.

I’m pretty sure it has something to do with the fact that I dont know how to run the update from my normal system folder which resides outside of public_html.  So I had to leave the system folder in public_html and run mysite.com/system.  Well the problem is that that system folder only has all the new files, my old files are still in the root of my site on a different name.

What should I do, copy all the files from there to a system folder in my public_html, then unzip the new system folder on top of it and do the update and then move it back out of public_html?

Glad to hear things are working again. Don’t hesitate to post again as needed.
