WHAT
Thomas Myer hosts two workshops: CodeIgniter and MojoMotor.
> Introduction to CodeIgniter Workshop
This is a 3-hour workshop that covers the basics of CodeIgniter with an emphasis on practical application development.
Participants will get a high-level overview of the framework — models, views, controllers, and extensions and configurations. Class participants will be able to build a very simple CodeIgniter application by the end of the class.
Participants will need to have an understanding of object-oriented PHP before they attend the class.
Topics covered:
o You’ll learn how to install and configure CodeIgniter in 5 minutes or less
o You’ll learn how to create controllers, models, and views
o You’ll learn how to use the basic plugins and libraries for DB access, sessions, creating forms, working with links, cleansing data, and more
o You’ll create a basic model for CRUD (create/revise/update/delete) mechanisms
> MojoMotor Module Development Workshop
This is a 3-hour workshop that covers the basics of MojoMotor extensions.
MojoMotor is the new publishing platform built on CodeIgniter and published by EllisLab.
Participants will need to have a good understanding of CodeIgniter and OO PHP in order to get anything out of this class.
After a preliminary overview of MojoMotor, workshop will focus on building a basic module/plugin/extension for platform.
Topics covered:
o You’ll learn how to install and configure MojoMotor
o You’ll learn how to create a basic extension for MojoMotor using the provided tools
o You’ll learn how to use common CodeIgniter constructs to make your MojoMotor extension more efficient and secure.
