I’ve just enabled the pages module in EE2.1 (it was an upgrade not a clean install, but I haven’t noticed any issues with the install). I’m running the latest Build:  20100720

I’ve already re-upload the pages folder in the modules directory to make sure it wasn’t a file problem.

If I click on ‘add a new page’ and then entry the information with a /about/ (or any other uri for that matter) and click submit the Page isn’t saved. The entry is saved fine, but there is nothing in the Pages module section and if I edit the entry the pages uri is defaulted back to the default.

    Any ideas?

    Dane,

What version did you uupgade from?
Did you upgrade your control panel themes when you did the upgrade?
    What documentation did you use?
Do you have any third-party add-ons running?

I’ve got an old test DB and install (on another server) from this dev site which is using Build: 20100430.

The pages module on that install appears to be working fine. I just tried to copy the pages folder from that install, to my local dev install and still no luck. Trying to do more investigating, maybe something wrong with my current database?

John, you posted just as I was updating the thread.

I upgraded from 20100430, although I believe this was an upgrade previously from the PB.

I’ve just manually downloaded the latest CP theme again and re-uploaded those, no change.

I’ve disabled NSM Morphine and MSN .htaccess, I’ve still got all of Brandons (P&T) addons install, Low Reeorder, and a couple of other smaller addons installed. I guess I’m going to have to keep disabling stuff or try and reinstall.

Dane, you can disable extensions globally using the button in the upper right of Addons > Extensions. That will retain extension configuration, unlike disabling them individually. Give that a try and let us know if there’s any change.

I’ve disabled extensions globally and there is no change. Something must have happened with the upgrade, this is looking like something with the DB, the pages aren’t being saved at all.

    Dane,

Try uninstalling/disabling the Pages module, and then re-installing it.

I’ve tried that a number of times. No idea what this could be. At this stage I’m looking like I’m going to have to start a new install and manually migrate the data across.

Hi, Dane!  I’m sorry you are running into this.

We will stick with you and figure this out, there is no need to reinstall.  However, if you prefer that option, then that is certainly possible.

When you say it looks like this is not being updated in the database - where did you look?  Pages information would be stored in exp_sites.

Have you ever run any add-ons that work with Pages?  Structure is one, and I believe that LG’s index.php removal module may also touch this.

Also, please make sure you have PHP Error Reporting set to 1 (Superadmins) in Admin > System Administration > Output and Debugging.

If you decide to go the reinstall route, please let us know so that we don’t bug you to troubleshoot.  =)  But if you want to, we’ll stick with it until we get to the bottom of this.

    Thank you!

I ended up getting to the bottom of this - EE DB caching.

I noticed there were a couple of site preferences that weren’t getting saved, but if I copied the DB to a new server and tried it pages & sys settings would work.

We enabled MYSQL logging and the correct info was being written to the DB but the settings or page configs wouldn’t stick.

Changing $db[‘expressionengine’][‘cache_on’] = FALSE; did the trick.

I now see that this is turned off by default in the latest build as well so I doubt many others will run into this.
