Is there a way that I can filter/search my weblog entries by on the ‘Edit Weblog Entries’ page by date? There is a ‘Date Range’ field but this is only for previous date ranges. Most of my entries are in the future and I wish to search by month etc.

No, I am afraid that is not an out-of-the-box option. An extension should be able to do that, though.
