Even though I’ve update and saved my System Offline Template numerous times, it keeps serving old content. I managed to do it once (like a week ago) but whatever changes I make to it (even leaving it blank), it won’t show up in the browser. I’ve cleared my cache, tried different computers… no succes. Is there some hidden cache setting for this template I’m not aware of?

Can you try adding the following to your config.php in /system/expressionengine/config/ please to see if that makes a difference.

$config['theme_folder_path'] = '/www/user/public_html/themes/';

Next step would be to upgrade your build as latest version is 20100720

Thanks for the tips. Adding the line in the config file didn’t work so I upgraded to the newest build. That seemed to do the trick once, but then the same problem popped up again: no matter what, changes made to the System Offline template wouldn’t show, regardless of clearing browser caches or even shifting to a different computer.

Turns out that what does work is clearing the Database cache files in the CP (Tools > Data > Clear cached data). Not sure if this info should be mentioned somewhere or whether this could be considered a bug… It’s a small pesky thing that gave me an itch, so who knows 😉
