I am currently using EE 1.6.9 and plan to migrate to 2.1.
I am currently using php 4.3 and want to move to php 5.

If I switch over to php 5, will it break my current version of 1.6.9? (I still want to run it for a while) Will EE 2.1 work with php 5 without any issues?

I just want to double check before making the jump.

    Thank you.

Yes it’s best for you to switch to php5, some addons won’t work on php4

    I’m not sure about 1.6.9 in php5, but I don’t see why

Yes, no problem with PHP 5. Definite recommendation to leave PHP 4 behind.

Thanks. While I’m upgrading can I switch to SQL 5 for EE 1.6.9 without problems?

I’ve made the upgrade to php5. I am running a few sites off one EE install using the method before multi site manager came along.

Whenever I try to access those sites I get a blank page and makes my browser want to open a file instead.

    Here’s what Firefox gives me:

    You have chosen to open

    which is a: application/x-httpd-php
    from:http://criminalcinema.com

Can you give me some idea what the problem is?

    dekalog6,

Can you go ahead and run our Server Wizard please

I am running a few sites off one EE install using the method before multi site manager came along.

    What was the method before?

I solved the problem. It was my host.

But I have another question. Which would be better for running EE 2.1. SQL5 or SQL5.1 ?

    Thanks

It should be of no consequence, really.
