    Hey all,

Am looking for an email marketing system that can work with database tables directly or has a really good api.

We have a client who has a rewards points card system so has. So would be looking to do custom triggers eg if a customer reaches a certain number of points send an offer with a tracking code in it. And have the offer data feed back into the system at the point of sale.

Can anybody recommend anything, service or in-house?

Also an email marketer recently told me if you go down the route of hosting your own solution you are more likely to end up on the spam registers because your not actively in communication with them to keep your ips clean. They seemed to think it was quite a big problem. Can anyone comment on this?

    Thanks a lot

Email marketing is simply to advertise a product, service or brand through electronic mail. If you obtained the email addresses of your customers, send an email to them could you click directly and advertise your products better.

    Mail Chimp

I didn’t made good experiences with Mail Chimp. SuperWebMailer is more effective in my eyes (unfortunately i cannot give a link - but try dot com behind the name of the tool xD).

    hi kashira,

Please repost the link to that email product when the webpage has been translated into English - it’s in German right now. I’d say, however, that comparing Mail Chimp to and self-installable mailinglist software written in PHP is not really fair to the software. Mail Chimp is a full-fledged email marketing service.

    cheers.

I have used mailchimp… and despite their features, i think is very dificult to use. I’m using E-goi at the moment and i strongly advise it.

MailChimp is easy to use and has a range of templates if you can’t do design. There are some plugins/modules for it to work with EE.

I use ReachMail.net for my day job. Not the slick interface but the pricing is good and deliverability is also very high. (What good is low price if the system has a poor reputation.)

They just released a Wordpress plugin and promise that EE is on their ToDo list.

If you are willing to pay, Aweber is a great tool as well.

Hi Aidy, I would suggest checking out either MailChimp or Campaign Monitor, based on the fact that I’ve only had experience with those two and the fact that they both have APIs. There are also EE2 add-ons available for both of those solutions (e.g. http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/mailchimp-ee, http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/campaigns, and others).

With regard to what the email marketer advised you, I totally agree with them. In fact I strongly advise against a self-hosted solution if you care anything about your sanity and want to avoid having your server IP ending up in the spam registries.

Anyway good luck and I hope you can find a beneficial and rewarding solution.
