Changing the MSM site programatically

I have a little “Edit” button I’m putting on my pages for logged-in users. (See attached)

The problem is, my default site in the MSM is a site that doesn’t contain these entries, so if they logged in and didn’t choose the relevant site, they get “you are not authorized to post.” So irritating.

Is there an EE method I can use to serve up the right site? I know there’s some cookie magic going on because the MSM remembers what site I was on when I return to it. So can I fake that up? I can put a PHP script between my page and the CP to inject a cookie, or do whatever. Can someone point me in the right direction?

(By the way, I have already gotten a quote for doing this as an extension, since I’m certain I can’t do it myself. I’m just covering all my bases.)

    Thanks!
