I’m just starting off using EE.
Would it be advisable to use EE v1.6.9 or work with EE2 ?

EE2. That’s the platform going forward.

The core I’m testing is 1.6.9 will this upgrade to two at a later date?

Yes, but there’s no “Core” equivalent with 2.0. You’d have to use the full version.
