    I just created a new template, got it all set how I wanted it and then clicked Update and Close.  I checked the webpage and it looked close to what I wanted - I just needed to tweak one more thing.  When I clicked to open the template again to modify the code, it wouldn’t display any code, but the webpage still refreshes just fine.

    I have had this happen to me before and I find it incredibly annoying.  My work around has been to copy the template and rename the new template “name2” and work from that template. But this is the first time that after doing that, I couldn’t open and modify the code for name2 either.  Hopefully you can help me find out why it is happening.

    What version and build of EE are you using? Do you’ve got a link?

    I’m running 1.6.8 Personal, Build:  20090915

    The Template giving me grief currently is almost an exact copy of another template that has been working fine for over a year (a listing of the pastors).  The new template simply has new titles as it is a list of the Church Board members.

    When I create a new template as a duplicate of the one I can’t get to the code for, this is the code the new template has:
    ____________________________________________________

    {embed="embeds/html_header" my_title="Church Board"}

    <body>

    {embed="embeds/page_header"}

    <div class="clear"></div>

    {embed="embeds/page_dropmenu"}

    <div class="clear"></div>

    <div id="mainBg">
        <div id="mainLeft"><!--BEGIN CONTENT SECTION-->
            <h2>Church Board</h2><p> <br />
                    {exp:weblog:entries weblog="staff" disable="trackbacks|pagination|member_data" category="19" orderby="staff_order" sort="asc"}            <br />
                    <div class="listBorder"><br />
                            <div class="image_column"><br />
                        {site_url}images/about_us/{staff_image}<br />
                            </div><br />
                    <div class="content_column"><br />
                        </p><h4>{title}</h4><p> <br><br />
                                {staff_position} <br><br />
                                {staff_description}<br />
                    </div><br />
                    </div><br />
            {/exp:weblog:entries}<br />
        </div><!--END CONTENT SECTION--></p>

    <p>    <div id="rightColumn"> <br />
             {embed="embeds/page_right"}<br />
        </div><!--END RIGHT COLUMN --></p>

    <p></div><!--END MAIN BG--></p>

    <p><div class="clear"></div><br />

    rdlenerz,

    First let’s get you to perform a version update to 1.6.9 to ensure all files are up-to-date.

    Then completely clear your browser’s cache and log back in. If the problem persists, you can also try a different browser to see if there’s any change.

    That did it.  Like several others I got a 1060 error on the update to 1.6.9, but I found what I needed to make sure the update was correct and now its all functioning correctly.

    You can close the thread.

    Glad things are working again. Don’t hesitate to post again as needed.
