    Hello all,

I’m experiencing the same issue as the original poster in this thread.

Upgrading from 1.6.8 to 2.x results in a blank screen on this page:
    http://example.com/system/index.php?C=wizard&M=do_update&agree=yes&ajax_progress=yes&language=english

This is a local development copy of the site, running on MAMP. Prior to the upgrade I did the following:

    * Disabled all the extensions, and physically deleted most of them
    * Disabled most third-party modules
    * Bumped the memory on my MAMP installation up to 512MB
    * Set $debug to “1” in /index.php

No errors are displayed on the page. I also checked the PHP log, Apache log, and MySQL log, and came up empty.

I’ve tried the upgrade 4 times now, with the same result every time.

    Any suggestions?

    Stephen

    Hi Stephen,

Sounds like errors are still being suppressed, so in your phpinfo output double check your error_reporting, error_log and display_errors settings.

In any case, can you perform a full backup and try upgrading to 1.6.9 first? Then try going to 2.0.2.

    Hi Brandon,

It’ll be a few days before I can get back to this. I’ll let you know how it goes.

    Cheers,
    Stephen

Well, I finally got around to upgrading to 1.6.9, and thence to 2.x. Long story short, exactly the same problem.

    Long story not so short:

Since the original post in this thread, I’d moved the system folder above web root. In a fit of ambition, I attempted to upgrade with this arrangement in place, anticipating untold carnage on a Biblical scale, dogs and cats living together, etc.

The reality was far more mundane, as the upgrade failed at exactly the same point (after the “Trackbacks” screen).

The URL in question was a little bit different (missing the ajax_progress parameter), but everything else was identical.

Suitably chastened, I then restructured everything to move the system folder back below web root. Once again, the upgrade failed at the same point, this time replete with the ajax_progress parameter.

In both instances, there were no errors to report. The error_reporting, error_log, and display_errors settings are all in order.

    Where next?

    Cheers,
    Stephen

    Hi Stephen,

The developers are aware of the issue and it is being worked on, though I do not have an ETA for a fix. We’ll update this post when we have more information. Thanks for your patience.

    Stephen,

While waiting for the fix from the devs can you try what Robin suggests here and it may get you further.

Shouldn’t you be swanning around San Francisco?

I think I’ll wait for the official fix, thanks. It’s not a desperately important update, just my natural compulsion to play with the new shiny thing.

    Cheers,
    Stephen

Very good, let’s just wait a little longer. And, yes, John Henry is on his way to SFO from what I know 😉 Probably en route as we speak.

I get same problem. Upgraded from 1.6.7 to 2.0.2, blank screen at trackbacks wizard, the 1.6.9 upgrade worked.

On another website I upgraded from 1.6.8 to 2.0.2 and worked with no problems.
