I have a series of events entries which are set to close after the time on the Expiration Date calendar expires. The “events” weblog is set to the default status group of open/closed. The entries are expiring from the site after the date, but for some reason their status is remaining “open”.

How can it be set so the status automatically changes to “closed” upon expiration?

you’d have to do this manually, or write a query and run it periodically (say once a day).
