    Update

    After Mercurial is downloaded and installed I created a good old batch file, located in the LSD directory and with a link on my desktop.

    The incremental download now works with just one click to the link:

    // pull.bat
        @hg
        @echo .
        @echo .
        @hg pull <a href="http://bitbucket.org/ellislab/codeigniter/">http://bitbucket.org/ellislab/codeigniter/</a>
        @echo .
        @echo .
        @hg pull <a href="https://[email protected]/ellislab/codeigniter/">https://[email protected]/ellislab/codeigniter/</a>
        @echo .
        @echo .
        @hg update
        @echo .
        @echo .

        @rem @hg status
        @echo .
        @echo .
        @rem @hg summary
        @echo .
        @echo .
        @rem @hg log
        @echo .
        @echo .
        @rem @hg paths
        @echo .
        @echo .
        @rem @hg parent
        @echo .
        @echo .
        @pause

     Screen dump

    edit: added screen dump

    My installation and downloading of the files was quite different than your instructions. I should have probably written down what I was doing as I fumbled my way through, but without your post I would have never figured it out (unless I read the whole TortoiseHg documentation). My main issue was that the files were not downloading, and I finally went to TortoiseHg > Update, selected “default”, and the files downloaded instantly.

    Is there a simple way of reading the user guide? I honestly don’t have time with the mercurial stuff :<

    As I understand, if you go to http://bitbucket.org/ellislab/codeigniter/, then on the right side of the menu area you see a link that says “get source”. Choose your flavor, and you will download the most current development version of CI, now 2.0. That said, while there seems to be a bunch of changes made when compared to 1.72, I don’t think you will understand what those changes are unless you view the “shortlog” or “changesets”. I didn’t really see anything that would be considered a new feature.

    EDIT START

    Actually… After reading http://philsturgeon.co.uk/news/2010/03/codeigniter-2, I realized that I did see some changes as I looked through.
    EDIT END

    While they probably have enough to do already, I think it would be great if somebody could put together a video about using Bitbucket / Mecurial / TortoiseHg specifically for CI users. I’d do it myself, but haven’t a clue about making something like this. Maybe nettuts+ would be so kind.
