Broken Links to Images in Photo Gallery

I just installed the photo gallery for the first time, and everything seems to be working properly, except that there are broken links to the image files (in the preview, in the actual gallery, etc., I only see the outline of the image with the little red “x” icon at the top.)

I’m pretty sure I configured everything properly in the Preferences; I’m attaching a screenshot of them with this message. I got the full server path by going into Admin/System Preferences/General Configuration, then copying the full server path that I have for the themes folder (which worked fine when I first installed EE) and then changing the themes folder in the path to the name of my photo folder (called pics), which is positioned as a sibling to the themes folder in the root of the site.

I know that I’m communicating with the pics folder. I did change the properties to 777, and when I add a New Entry, I can see the thumbnnail, medium, and large files in the pics folder with my FTP client. Conversely, when I delete the entries and check the “remove from server” box, the images are removed from the pics folder when I view it via FTP.

I also tried uploading photos to the pics folder and then choosing them from the drop-down list on the New Entry page, instead of browsing to them on my hard drive and attaching them that way for upload. I got the same results.

Can you tell me why there are broken links to the images? Everything else seems to be working just fine.

    Thanks!

    Hiya,

I’m fairly certain that if you take out the index.php part in your Full URL to Image Directory and also change that so that gallery isn’t in there then you should be okay 😉

Try this for the Full URL to Image Directory :

    http://www.personalcarechat.com/pics/

Pretty sure that should do it for you.

If you see in your Server Path to Image Directory you have your pics folder directly in your main document root. Your Full URL doesn’t reflect this due to the index.php part and also the gallery word. Take those two bits out and supply as shown above and hopefully it should all work for you.

    Hope that helps a bit.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Uh…double-duh! I made the IMAGE PATH URL the same as the GALLERY URL, itself! I didn’t even notice that I did that!

Thank you so much. This immediately did the trick!

P.S. I should have known that it would be you who would bail me out. Every time I have an issue with EE, you give me the best advice! I really appreciate you.

P.P.S. I certainly *would* buy you a drink; but Snow Camp, North Carolina to the U.K. is a bit too far to travel; that would be one hell of an expensive drink!

No problem at all. Glad that got it working for you.

No problems. I suppose I have to step in whilst everyone else is out having a free meal from the EllisLab crew 😉

lol no problems. You never know I might be over there one day.

Well, if you’re ever in Snow Camp, look us up!

The techs at EE are fabulous. But their product is very popular, and even though they usually answer quite fast, you usually manage to help me before they even get a chance. I’m sure they appreciate you, too.

You have a terrific weekend as well.
