Linking images (as opposed to inserting them)

My client has some large images they want to link to using text links, with the purpose of offering them for download. Of course EE’s default way of embedding an image is to insert it in the body via <img>. Is there a method (plugin?) that would allow them to click a button and insert the necessary HTML, such as the following?

    <a href="https://ellislab.com/asset/images/showcase/some_photo.jpg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">some_photo.jpg</a>

File Upload Preferences won’t do it. Inserting a pop-up image link would be an option except that some of these images are much too large for a pop-up. Editing the HTML by hand is easy enough for someone with HTML experience, but that’s not a given. Thanks.

Have you thought about using nGen’s File Field for uploading/adding images to your site? That would allow you to easily link directly to images. Plus, it’s a little more intuitive than EE’s default file upload manager.

That looks like a good solution, I’ll check it out. Thanks, Jason.
