I would like to move ALL entries from one section into another. I have a section called “main” and one called “firm.” The goal is to move (or just have them display in my new section as well) any entries from “main” to “firm” so it displays in that section’s pages. I will no longer use “main.” <—its going to be removed from the publish list…

This way when someone is looking for an entry that is 2 years old, that once was in “main”, is now displayed in the “firm” section. Please say I can do this, If so how? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If the two weblogs have the same field set you can move them but it’s going need to be done one at a time.  You’ll get a “Weblog” dropdown on the options tab in the CP.  To do them in bulk would take a query.

Just a quick note but to move entries from one weblog to another they need to not only share the same field group but also the same status and category groups too.

Just thought I’d mention it in case it doesn’t work and you’re wondering why.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Thanks guys I’m going to see exactly what I have and decide. Unfortunately some folks in the Marketing department decided to add entries their way (the lazy way) and now wonder how they can consolidate a couple years worth of the items into one section “quickly.” I’ll post back.

Just in case someone else wants this.
If you have a section that is empty of articles and want to move all articles from another section to it, then rename existing weblog and all posts are then in the “new” one.
I had to do this just now, moved 260 in 5 minutes.
