I’m about to embark on developing a multi-member website using an EE back-end. The site is for an artists’ collective, and each artists (member) needs to be able to:
• Sign up in order to appear on the site (know how to do that)
• Manage their own profile, location/contact information, and artwork in a small gallery (5-10 JPGs).
All of this information will then get filtered on the front-end, allowing users (non-members and members alike) to browse through the artists and their work, and explore by location and artwork categories.
The difficulty I’m having is wrapping my brain around how to approach this, since the members signing up will have varying levels of computer efficiency and knowledge, and granting access to Publish/Edit areas of the CP sounds like it’s asking for trouble.
The EASIEST way I can see doing it is to allow new members to access and edit their Member Profile, which would be the basic one-page profile form, but it would ALSO need to allow FieldFrame-driven custom fields so that the user can do things like GeoTag their studio location through the SL Google Maps field, and add work to their gallery through a FieldFrame Matrix with nGen FileField cells.
This would make it easy for users to edit all of their content in one place, and not make the site administrators have to publish a new entry for each member so that they can then edit it through the CP.
Does anyone have another idea for how this could work, or know of any way I could do what I’m looking to do (make FieldFrame available as a Custom Profile Field)?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
