    Hi,

I was wondering if there was any existing solution for deploying a simpler admin panel for managing only the content of the website (ie, the powers of the Publish and Edit tabs)

I deployed a site previously that the staff found kind of difficult to use.

    Thanks for your time
    Rich

Did you assign the staff to a member group and edit their access to the Control Panel through Admin->Members and Groups->Member Groups->Edit Member Group to restrict them to the Publish and Edit pages?

Not the issue - the issue is that the EE admin interface is rubbish for non-technical staff. I was wondering if there was some variety of replacement for this using perhaps the standalone forms?

There isn’t a drop-in replacement, but you could roll your own.

i am pretty sure i have seen a system which displays little graphics on the front of the site. simply clicking these opens the right form in the back end to it, or similar…
what is was called i cannot think but will search - edit plus or something… be right back!

try them out! but personally i find EE’s back end pretty good! Whats the problem non technical people are having?

Yeah I created something similar - if the user is logged in the sections of text are all clickable and take you to the right edit form.

I’ve started on making a system with the stand-alone form.

The problem the non-techs have is that its SUPER COMPLICATED for their TINY BRAINS

fair enough, yes edit to standalone will be better… but i assume you mean “seems super complicated for their tiny brains!”

You can make a custom Publish page so everything there is, is there because you want it and you know it won’t be hard to use for tiny-brained people.
But Editting, I don’t know if u can ‘customize’ that.

Yes, you can. You add a hidden field with the entry_id in it and it will update rather than insert.

what’s complicated about the control panel?

it’s one of the simplest I’ve seen, next to TextPattern.

For technical users, it’s super simple yes.

For the type of person who is afraid of breaking it by pressing too many keys at once, the panic sets in when they see such a busy page and knowing the power behind it.

I’d rather create something simple and friendly than complex and threatening.

I wasn’t meaning from just a technical point of view - I meant in general. The feedback I’ve had from beginners has been great. In fact, those I’ve shown 2.0 to don’t like that!
