YYMMDD as segment

I wonder if anyone has implemented event_date or publish_date (in the format YYMMDD) as a segment:
i.e. instead of archiving past meeting notices (or past articles) under /archive/title ,
it would be useful to archive them under /archive/date/title or just /date/title (where date is YYMMDD).
Likewise corresponding meeting photos (if any) could then be filed under /gallery/date/title.

You can certainly do that with the entry_date. Using dynamic=“off” and a bit of PHP should easily allow you to do that for other date fields as well. Moving to Howto.
