    Hi there,
I’m guessing this isn’t related to ExpressionEngine, but would like to ask EE Tech Support just so I could rule it out. Thanks in advance.

When going to different pages on a website, I would get 403 Forbidden error. It doesn’t happen all the time. Just only some of the times. There can be a whole 30 minutes where everything appears to be fine, then I go to a certain page, and voila, 403 Forbidden.

The host says they do not have mod_security enabled.

Have you come across this? Any suggestions as to where to look?

    Thanks!

There should be a little more info in the server’s error logs. That said, an intermittent error is most likely a server issues. I, too, don’t see EE involved here.

Thanks Ingmar, oh wise one, could you enlighten me as to what one might see and deduce in the server log? (So that I may advise the host.)

The reason for the “Forbidden” error, I would think, particularly the precise page the user tried to access, when, from where, how etc. A few more details then a “403 Forbidden” error, in other words.

something in the .htaccess file can also cause this error, and yes, it can also be intermittent and not a persistent error

    case closed. thanks ingmar.
