I recently moved a client’s site to a new hosting account.  I have gone through the KB checklist and updated all the paths etc.

However, I am having trouble with linking to items in a folder in my site root.  What I believe is causing problems is that EE is reading links to this folder as links to templates/template groups.  What confuses me though is that the ‘Images’ folder works just fine and operates on the same principle as my problem folder. (Permissions are read-write, so I don’t think that’s the problem)

Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

Have you considered using Deeploy Helper to aid in setting paths?

Thanks Sue, I will check that out.

I think I should explain a little better what I am doing though.  On this particular site, there are several custom forms and with them, I am using the securimage PHP script for captchas.  Everything needed for the script is in a folder in the site root called ‘php’.

On the pages with the forms, the captchas are not displaying.  When you access the script which renders the captcha directly, you get a string of strange text characters.

I put a test php file with a simple echo in the ‘php’ folder.  When i try to access it, EE behaves as though I’m trying to access a template group that isn’t there.

For what it’s worth, the site has Force Query Strings on.

    Hope this helps some more.

What version and build of EE are you using? Do you’ve got a link? Are you removing index.php from your URLs?

I’ve solved a little of my problem - part of it was a mix up: I was poking around in the wrong hosting account.  However, the captcha image is still not showing.

    I’m on EE build 1.6.4.

For the time being, our client is on a free GoDaddy hosting account until he upgrades it.  I am starting to think that the GoDaddy ad banner is what’s messing everything up, because everything else works…

This page should render the captcha: http://www.aarrowtransmissions.com/php/securimage_show.php

I was removing the index.php on the old hosting, but I turned all that off (I think) on the new hosting account until the dust settles.

Yes, the link you gave me shows a .png which Godaddy adds an iframe to. Definitely try on regular hosting, please.

I will check back once the client has upgraded their hosting.  Thanks all!
