I have tried to install version 1.6.8 personal from 1.6.7 core.

I just re-uploaded all the files with my FTP program set to text instead of auto to avoid any issues there.  I also reran the update.php and it told me I successfully upgraded from 167 to 168.

My problem is that my control panel does not show the update.  The footer says I am still on 1.6.7 core and I only have access to the 12 modules available in the core version even though on my server eesystem/modules shows 22 module folders.

What do I need to do to get access to these modules in the control panel.

Have you tried clearing out your browser cache, then reloading the admin?

Also make sure your config.php file is writable.

    What does the $conf[‘app_version’] say?

I tried clearing the cache in my browser - no luck.

    The config.php file is set to 666.  The $conf[‘app_version’] = “168”;

    Any other ideas?

Try manually clearing out the “cache” folder, located at “system/cache” via FTP.

Remove everything, but the index.html file.

    Does this help?

I tried that also.  Just in case, I cleared the cache in my browser also.  No dice.

Is it an issue that I have this personal version installed on a second server as a test space.  In my test space I had everything working as it should.  I have since deleted my test space thinking possible EE keeps track of how many places a license is running.

    Hi rdlenerz,

Since you were upgrading from 1.6.7 Core and the current full version is 1.6.8 have you also updated the full system as per the documentation?

The fact that you had a second install running should not affect this issue. Remember though that the development/test install needs to be a non-public server.

    Cheers

I ran followed the full system update to a T.  When running the update.php file the program told me it was successfully updated to 1.6.8.

If I wanted to start all over with my installation, which files can I delete without losing website information?  I don’t have any extensions or customized files, just lots of preferences set in the control panel.

    Hi rdlenerz,

You can backup your system/config.php file which will contain some basic site information and DB access credentials. Many of the specific site setup in the control panel though is stored within the database.

    Cheers

I finally found my issue and resolved it.  Unfortunately the solution won’t be helpful to anyone else - the network admin who set up the website originally, installed EE in 2 locations.  I was updating the superfluous set of files while the set that ran the EE backend were remaining untouched.

    Please close this thread.
