I know little about mail servers and config and our sysadmin knows about the same as far as non-Microsoft integration goes, but he’s willing to help.

I’ve read many threads and tried several configuration alternatives, I suspect it’s our Exchange config and/or firewall. When trying to set up the Communication panel and Email config I get the SMTP 111 error “connection refused” - have tried several different users, etc.

I think it’s possible that it won’t work because we use an Exchange 2007 server and it’s set up not to allow relay. To configure devices and mail clients outside the network we have to use ActiveSync. He’s very hesitant to add relay and wants to see exactly what EE is sending and over what protocol.

I assume it’s SMTP? Can someone point me in a direction of how to print the request to screen or a text file so I can send it to him?

mahalie, this is one of those issues you’d need to take up with your system admin. Moving to HowTo for additional community involvement.

    thanks anyway.

my sysadmin figured out it was a firewall issue and had to add some exceptions for our external website ip.
