Okay, what am I doing wrong?

I want to change my mySQL username and password, and I have added a new username and added it to my database.

But as soon as I change the config.php file, the site throws an error and cannot connect to the db.

    grrr.

I am checking and rechecking usernames, spelling, and passwords, and I can’t figure it out. I have tried it twice.

Am I missing something? Any hints?

    Thanks!

This sounds more like an MySQL issue than anything else. Have you renamed the username / password successfully? config.php only reflects those settings.

Yes, I have it written down, and I copied it.

I tried twice with two different user names and passwords.

I have another program running on the same db, and it had no problem with the new user name/pw change.

So, the only place to change, is on the config.php file, right?

Once you’ve actually changed it on the server, yes. You might want to try flushing all caches (MySQL, Apache, EE) as well.

OMG, never mind. I don’t know what happened before, but I tried it one more time, creating a new username & password, and this one worked.

    Who knows!

Thank you for your help anyway!

Very good. Probably was a caching issue of some sort… Please don’t hesitate to post again as needed.
