Adding and editing entries impossible for just a few channels

    I’ve build a website with 13 channels. Everything was working fine and as expected. Today the situation changed: it’s not possible anymore to add new entries to 5 of the 11 channels. It shows a totally white page. And editing existing entries in those channels gives the same problem: a white page, nothing happens….

    The strange thing: I didn’t change anything in the setup or anything else…

    It did work… in all channels there are entries. There is no difference in the setup of the channels, except for groups. They all use a different group for fields. I’ve updated to the latest build (20090915). It doesn’t seem to be logic… But may be someone sees light….

    Hmmm. Odd, that.

    1. is this a control panel problem? Can you login to your control panel and add or edit entries?

    2. could you please post the code you are using to show your entries?

    3. Does this work?

    {exp:weblog:entries weblog="default_site"}

    {title}

    {/exp:weblog:entries}

    1. It’s only in the control panel. The already submitted entries do show as expected.
    2. There is no problem at the front of the site, only the backend.

    Thanx

    White pages usually indicate a suppressed PHP error. Do you know how much memory you have on your server? Also, can you make sure to turn on error reporting?

    Memory_limit is 20M, but I will ask the hostingprovider
    php display_errors is on
    turned on “error_reporting(E_ALL);”

    But it shows nothing in the cp, only the white page. On the frontside there is no problem…

    Yes, try to have this limit increased, 32M would be a good amount to test with, 64M even better.

    My provider doesn’t upgrade the memory… but even if he did, why would the problem only exists in certain channels and not in all?

    So I did extensive look again and notices that the similarity in the channels was the use of nGen file field in the section-fields of only this channels. So I changed nGen file field to file (from Mark Huot) and the problem was solved… In the thread about nGen file filed I read more memory-problems, so I guess there is some work to do…

    In the mean time, this problem is solved.
    Thanx for helping.
