    Hello,

My client worked on their site sucessfully the last few days, but today called to say this morning logging in to the control panel gives only a blank page.

I’m running debugging now and get this message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function ob_end_clean() in /var/www/vhosts/xxmysitenamexx.org/httpdocs/system/cp/cp.display.php on line 1749

I can get to specific pages on the control panel, but others also give this message.

The front end of the site is fine.

I uploaded cp.display.php from a backup and there is no change in the message.

What happened?  What can I do to get things working again?

Did anything change on your host? What version and build of EE are you using?

Thank you for responding.  This is difficult, I do not know how to troubleshoot.

    It’s version: 1.6.7
    Build:  20090515

What kinds of hosting changes would cause this error?  I can ask my hosting company, is there anything specific I can ask?

No, just any change in the server setup. That said, seeing as you are a version behind, would upgrading to the latest version and build be an option? It would help us to rule out file corruption, and is recommended from a security point of view as well.

    Problem resolved?

In the midst of following the steps for the upgrade, (but before I had uploaded any files) - I went to the admin area to clear the cache.  When I needed to re-log in due to a time out, the error had stopped and everything was working as normal.

I had written my host company with the change question so perhaps they changed something?  I will wait to hear back from them.

I will go ahead and run the upgrade.  I will report back when I hear from the hosting company.

Great, please let us know what you hear & run it through the ringer for a couple of days so we know that it’s fixed.  😊

A followup.  This from my hosting company:

We did not change anything in between the time of receiving your request and the error clearing. We also have not made any changes to our environment recently.

I’ll keep an eye on this error and see if it occurs on the upgraded version.  Hopefully whatever was causing it is over with the upgrade.

Let’s wait one more day before closing this, OK?

Hello - before this gets closed -

I have not run the update yet (apologies, as things were working I had to put it off due to more pressing work) and still plan to.

However again this morning the client calls me to tell me, the control panel page is “blank” after log on.

I have just checked it and this time, there is no error showing (even though I am in still in error display mode), just a blank page.  Also I can get to all other pages in the control panel that I have tried, the problem is only with the CP home (index.php).

OK, I know I need to run the upgrade and will do so, but I wanted to ask that this ticket be kept open today while I try that.

    thanks

Added - prior to the upgrade, LG TinyMCE extension is also no longer working in the edit screens.  I’m getting this javascript error message:

    Line: 2344
    Error: ‘tinyMCE’ is undefined

Yes, please do upgrade to the latest version and build. If that doesn’t help, try disabling your extensions globally, see if that changes anything.

I just ran the upgrade and got a success message.

The front end of the site is displaying.

However when I attempt to access the control panel at the same address as before, I get an error page.

** edited- this is only in IE.  Firefox is displaying the log page.

In Firefox I can log on.  I’m seeing the same issue - blank page after log on.
