    I’ve got a new install of EE 1.6.8.  No entries made yet. Just installed FF 1.3.3 and LG Htaccess.  Other than that everything is stock.

    When I try to navigate to anything in the CP under “members and Groups” I get these errors:

    Warning: Unexpected character in input: '\' (ASCII=92) state=1 in .../html/****/cp/cp.members.php on line 131

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in .../html/****/cp/cp.members.php on line 131

    Any idea what could be causing this?  I’ve googled these errors and can’t find anything obvious pertaining to EE.  This is on a MediaTemple GS account, running PHP Version 5.2.6.

    Thanks in advance!

    Try to disable extensions and let’s see if you get the same error.  You might try deleting the cp.members.php file & re-upload it.

    WIll try right now.  To add to the above, I discovered in the CP clicking on “New Tab” results in a huge page of php error code, beginning with:

    PREFS; if (FALSE === ($id = $this->auth_id())) { return $DSP->no_access_message(); } [...]

    and continuing down the page, ending with:

    Fatal error: Class 'MyAccount' not found in [...]/html/****/core/core.system.php on line 863

    Now to try turning off the extensions…

    Disabled both extenstions and still get the error in “Members and Groups” as well as the “New Tab” button.  Any ideas?  Does it sound like I might have to re-upload system files?

    **Update**  I did re-upload the cp.member.php file and that section is now working.  I’m concerned that I can’t be confident my system files are not corrupt.  Should I be able to re-upload the “core.system.php” file, overwriting the current one?  I’m not clear on which files modified with system info and which are safe to overwrite.

    Looks like something might have been corrupted in the upload process.  I’d try to refresh the system files and see if that takes care of it.

    I’m backing up my config.php, extensions and language folder.  Should everything else be safe to overwrite in /system/ ?

    Thanks for the prompt help, Greg.

    Yep, if you haven’t uploaded any third party modules or plugins, your list is good.

    Thanks for your help, Greg.  After replacing the system files I haven’t been able to reproduce the php errors, so I guess we can chalk this one up to a corrupt original ftp session.  Appreciate the advice, even on a Sunday afternoon.
