I’d like to format the no results page for forum searches but am not sure how. The default theme just gives you the white page with the gray/light purple box. When I edit the No Search Result Template in the Forum Modules area, it doesn’t have an effect on the no result page. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I believe you can style this page from here. This template is the default user message template for all your site and not just the forum.
Admin › Specialty Templates › User Message Template
