    Hello,

We’ve been having an issue with the forums lately.  We recently performed a server move and the issues have come up.

Basically, when some members are posting, their posts are being posted as announcements.  Regular members do not have this ability, therefore the posts aren’t showing up.  They do not even see the “post as announcement” checkbox option.  It seems some of the members have the “post as announcement” checkbox checked, even though they cannot see this menu option.

Is there a setting in the database that marks this setting as checked or unchecked so that we can easily fix this?

    Thanks in advance.

jaydee, let’s get a bit more information from you.

    Version and build of EE/Forums
    Which theme are you using?

    Extensions

The only way to fix is to manually go through each user account by making them an administrator, then making sure the announcement check box is removed.

Is there somewhere in the DB that stores this? Or within the template code to make sure users don’t have this checked?  I’m at a loss as to why this is happening.

    Thanks.

no, they are regular members and have never been moderators.  they have never had access to the announcements options or checkbox.

whenever they post it is automatically an announcement…

ie: “viewannounce” as opposed to “viewthread”
    http://www.domain.com/index.php/forums/viewannounce/5903_7/

is there no setting in the database to turn this off per user?

jaydee, I’ve never heard of this happening. You mentioned it started after you moved servers. Do you still have any of the original themes to test with?

    I’ve figured it out.

It’s not the themes.  When the DB was transferred, the default values for the tables were not replicated, hence the issues.

We are now going through all of the tables and adjusting as necessary.

    Thanks for the help.
