I am currently working on my first EE site for a client and I am in love with it.

One thing I came across and that I can’t figure out the best way to do:
How would I go about creating a custom global settings form for my client that features name-value pair type fields for my client to modify?

It would manipulate certain aspects of the site that aren’t necessarily and weblog or pages type of content.

Any suggestions?

Hi Greg-

One way to do this would be to create a blog called “Preferences” with all the custom fields you want, and then have one entry in the blog—the preferences entry.  Then you just need to grab that entry wherever you need its preferences, using the weblog:entries tag, the query module, or PHP.  The client would just edit the entry to change a pref.

Alternatively, you could create an extension with settings, and then use PHP to grab those settings as necessary.  The client would just administer the extension to change a pref.

There are probably other good ways to do it, too!
