    I’m running 1.6.8

Everything was working fine and installed LG Better Meta 1.8.0

Next I tried to navigate to another page in the control panel and everything went blank.

I don’t have access to the control panel now to try and fix it so I deleted the Lg stuff via FTP module, extension, plugin. I aslo found the LG stuff in the database and deleted that using MyPhpAdmin. Still seeing nothing.

How can I get the control panel back asap.

    Thanks in advance.

BTW, The front end of the site is working by the way it’s only the control panel that is blank.

    Thanks

You can try turning extensions off globally by adding this to your config.php:

    $conf['allow_extensions'] = "n";

    Thanks Ingmar,

I did eventually figure that part out and it did allow me back into the CP…

The problem I’m still having is how to remove the offending extension so I can enable the working ones.

When I delete the extension manually I get this error.

    MySQL ERROR:

    Error Number: 1146

    Description: Table 'my_database_name.exp_lg_better_meta' doesn't exist

    Query: ALTER TABLE `exp_lg_better_meta` CHANGE `index` `index` VARCHAR( 1 ) NOT NULL, CHANGE `follow` `follow` VARCHAR( 1 ) NOT NULL, CHANGE `archive` `archive` VARCHAR( 1 ) NOT NULL

I just need to delete the extension so I can start over but it’s not working,

    Thanks again

Yes, I just deleted it via my FTP client after I used the config file to disable them all.

    Thanks Greg

Did you uninstall the extension in the control panel first?

Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance, I wasn’t able to get into the CP when the initial problem occurred.

Deleting via ftp was how I attempted to fix the problem, which of course made it worse. Next, I thought about disabling all extensions through the config file. That helped get me in the CP but by that time I had screwed up already. I now have to have all extensions disabled to get in the CP.

    Here’s a scenario:

If I disable the extensions I can get into the CP.
If I enable all extensions with the offending extension present I get a DB error.
If I remove the offending extension I can’t gt into the CP

    Any Ideas?

    okay, here’s what to try:

log into your control panel, and go to the extensions page.  Upload the offending extension.  Reload the extensions page & let’s see if it errors out.  If it doesn’t, go ahead and uninstall the extension.

Here’s are the steps I took.

    1. I disabled extensions using the config file. (only way into CP at this time)
    2. I went to the extensions page.
    3. I re-uploaded the extension.
    4. I reloaded extensions page and enabled all extensions.

    Here’s the error I received:

    MySQL ERROR:

    Error Number: 1060

    Description: Duplicate column name 'priority'

    Query: ALTER TABLE exp_lg_better_meta ADD `priority` VARCHAR( 5 ) NOT NULL , ADD `change_frequency` VARCHAR( 50 ) NOT NULL , ADD `include_in_sitemap` VARCHAR( 1 ) NOT NULL

What do you think would happen if I deleted the lg_better_meta table from the database?

If you look in exp_extensions, do you see mention of that extension?

Yes Lisa, It’s in the exp_extensions table on the second page.

After paging through the table I found over 90 mentions of the extension, that’s not normal is it?

I’ve never used the extension so I can’t answer that.  You might contact LG at this point about how to fully clean it up safely.

Or.. do you have a backup?
