I bought Blogo a little while ago, thinking it’d be a great way to write blogs w/o being online…

I’m having trouble setting it up.  I get this error:

Blogo was unable to parse your blog’s input.

    When authorizing your account information.

Please check your server’s configuration or contact the site’s administrator for more assistance.

    Error 500

Has anybody else encountered this problem?  I’m terribly frustrated.

How did you set up EE so Blogo could log in? Did you turn on the Metaweblog API Module? Did you give Blogo the proper URL? It’ll look something like this:

http://mysite.com/index.php?ACT=99&id=99 (changed to protect the innocent).

There are three main Mac apps that connect to EE using the Metaweblog API module; Blogo, Ecto, MarsEdit. I’ve had trouble in varying degrees with all three, and only managed to get one EE site to work on Blogo, though it worked fine in Ecto and MarsEdit. The styling code was always messy, or always messed up code that was already there.

    Yes, very frustrating.

Yea, I gave it the correct URL.  The Metaweblog module is activated, and it all should be functioning correctly.

How should I set up blogo to log in?  I’m using the admin user/password.

I just tried the most recent Blogo and it would never login to an EE site. Then I tried MarsEdit and it worked fine. Go figure.

I’m going to try to get a refund.

I’ve logged in with blogo before, and as you said, it’s formatting is pretty crappy.

    Oh, wait a minute.

    I got it.

I’m using a .htaccess rewrite for my urls, so the API link rendered by EE has removed the index.php…

I added that into the API link, and Shazam!  It worked…this is something worth noting.
