Beware that the CC EE “shopping cart” runs thru Wells Fargo.

Any error issued when trying to make a purchase with a CC will actually charge your account and will NOT inform you of the fact.

The PayPal route seems to work correctly.

If you try a CC transaction and any form of error is announced, assume your account has been debited for that amount but EE has not received the attempted payment.

I have informed EE staff of the issue, due to the holiday it must be assumed that any adjustment will happen next week.

I can assure you that neither you nor anyone else has been charged for any non-successful transactions.  For your protection, when either our bank or the bank issuing your credit card declares a transaction to be in error, no details of the reason are provided to us.  You should not assume that your account has been debited for such attempted payments, nor have you actually been charged.  You might see an authorization hold on your account for the amount of the transaction, but it has not actually posted.

This is standard practice in the banking industry, and not specific to the ExpressionEngine store or any specific bank.
