I purchased User from Solspace and installed it. I then noticed the issue with the Modules tab. I uninstalled User and the problem was still there. This is the error I am getting.

    Error
Unable to load the following language file:

    /lang.index.php

I looked to see if lang.index.php was in the installation files from EE but I did not see one in there. I don’t know if this file needs to exist in the language -> english directory or if this is an internal error EE is generating. I am running 1.6.6 commercial version of EE.

Can you try to upgrade to EE 1.6.7, uploading a fresh set of files in the process? It’s a recommended update and would help us to rule out corrupted files, too.

Ok, I have done the update. The same error is coming up when clicking on the Modules tab. I also disabled all extensions (except Fresh Variables which requires removing the module), and still received the same error.

DId you forget to upload a language file that goes with the user module?  Check the download for it to make sure.

The first thing I looked at was to see that the language file was installed. I actually reinstalled User to make sure I had all the files in the right places.

I am not sure why the error is referencing lang.index.php. All the lang files use the name of the extension. I checked the language files for each extension I have installed and none of them come with a lang.index.php.

I am not sure if this is what your after but here is a list of the folders. I reinstalled User once I determined that it probably wasn’t the issue. That is why it is on the list.

blacklist, blogger_api, comment, email, emoticon, freeform, fresh_variables, gallery, ip_to_nation, lg_polls, mailinglist, member, metaweblog_api, moblog, pages, query, referrer, rss, search, simple_commerce, stats, trackback, updated_sites, user, weblog, wiki.

Sorry, you were having this problem prior to installing the User Module?

I haven’t been in the modules area for a couple of weeks. It was right after I installed User that I went to the module area and saw the error. So far, I have removed User, disabled all of the extensions except Fresh Variables, upgraded EE from 1.6.6 to 1.6.7 (deleting all the files recommended in the User Guide and replacing them with the new ones), downloaded the latest versions of the 3rd party extensions I am using and reinstalled them.

I tried the modules tab after each step above and I am still getting the same error.

    peak2peak,

create an empty file with that name (lang.index.php), load it into your language folder alongside the other language files.

Then methodically check your third party modules and extension settings for any signs of language corruption.

Its unusual as the lang file does not refer to anything in particular

Also, please review this wiki entry. =)

Resolved. I read both of the last post and looked at the wiki first. I had a file called index in my modules directory without the .html extension. I had renamed the file a few days ago. Once I removed that, the error went away.

    Thanks for the help.
