    Firstly, this is not meant to be a debate thread, but to laugh at Microsofts attempt at a fair comparison!

    Get the facts
    Comparison
    Mythbusting

    <sarcasm>See, I always told you MS was fair 😛</sarcasm>

    Interesting test results Yorick, although I don’t need any tests to prove Firefox kicks IE8s ass 😊

    I’m planning to compare the amount of default features later tonight. This propaganda bullcrap is making me sick. We’re not living in North Korea…

    lol, maybe I should put a disclaimer there saying it may cause excessive laughter.
    I forwarded it to a few people at work, who started laughing rather loudly, and got stares from everyone that didn’t know why

    “Customizability. Sure, Firefox may win in sheer number of add-ons, but many of the customizations you’d want to download for Firefox are already a part of Internet Explorer 8 – right out of the box.”

    Customizability by Microsoft - we customize it for you, so you don’t have to.

    rofl, I wonder if the person who wrote that actually believes this and if he/she could stop himself from laughing while writing those things 😉

    Internet Explorer 8 is more compatible with more sites on the Internet than any other browser.
    This is worse than a fu&*ing strike in the balls to any person, who codes xhtml/css. Cause it’s true, for the most part, we ensure that the web site works under ie, we caused this :( I somehow feel dirty as I was one of the people who let the ms boys say something good about themselves.

    ...Microsoft made a big commitment to standards with Internet Explorer 8. In addition to passing more of the official CSS 2.1 test suites than any other browser…

    ROFL, It’s 2k9 morons, everyone else is doing the same or better with CSS 3. WTF, GET WITH THE PROGRAM! :D

    /me can’t stop laughing.

    IE8 has stuff built in? Sorry, must have missed that inbetween the constant crashes when I tried it out. But wait, that can’t be, cause IE8 is the most reliable out of the lot!

    Also, chances are these built in extensions, are probably way below the quality of their Firefox extension equivalent, as the extension does one job, and it does a damn good job, instead of leaving it up to MS to make a mess

    It means that developers will be able to spend more time designing cool new features for their site, and less time tweaking code for specific browsers. Microsoft put significant effort into make sure sites still work, even if they’re designed for older versions of Internet Explorer, by giving users a Compatibility View button.

    At the end of the day, Internet Explorer 8 truly is more reliable than ever.

    I got so pissed off reading the pages and especially the section above.

    “Specific browsers” = IE (99% of the times).
    If they did their homework earlier we could code sites using web standards. It’s so fucking ignorant to preach that they have a feature (and make it sound like some kind of overtake) just because they solved their browser to use CSS2.1 in 2009 (which, correct me if I’m wrong, they did’nt do, atleast not 100%).

    The last thing I heard was that IE8 got 21% on the Acid3-test, while Firefox, Safari, Chrome and some others got ALOT higher.

    The section about security is also bullshit. IE8 still uses ActiveX which is the biggest flaw for spreading unwanted content to people clicking on things.

    If Microsoft would be a new buisness today (and did’nt have their crappy code installed in millions of computers) they would be bankrupt in seconds if they could not come up with anything better. It will take many years still (due to all the endusers), but I think the Windows platform will extinguish itself.

    I don’t get why they even bother to maintain a browser at all. Microsoft does not have the ability to keep up with an open competition.

    If you look at the page source:

    <!--[if gte IE 8]>
        <link rel="Stylesheet" href="../../Framework/styles/base_ie8.css" />
    <![endif]-->

    I would also add:

    <!-- Our browser is so great, it requires it's own stylesheet! -->

    i think microsoft are bribing people as well. Saying if you use their browser. that one webpage contains a unique code that can only be read by IE8. If you see it you get $10,000. Thats what i have heard
