This seems tough to me, but I’m pretty new to EE in the grand scheme, so here goes.

I need to create some custom forms for my site and can do that with the FNS-> object but a couple of functions escape me.

Specifically, what does the {XID_HASH} do - is this EE specific or can I leverage it myself.

    and

is there a list of form actions (passed as ?ACT=n) anywhere?

smidoid, Solspace’s Freeform Module is what I’d suggest using instead. Have you considered that?

Looks interesting Sue (I haven’t considered it in great detail) but is probably OTT for what I need: in fact for the most part, my own backend is handling all of this.

The reason I asked about the XID hash is because it appears to be a security feature that I wasn’t aware of - and that’s something I could learn from. I’ve learnt a lot studying CI and EE which is helping make me a better developer.

XID_HASH is the Secure Forms feature.  You can read about it here.

For development, see the Security Guidelines.

Neat! And very clever too. All I have to do now is find out how to apply that to my own forms… Thanks for that very quick reply.

Did you see my link to the Security Guidelines?  That explains how to add this.

That would be a “Homer” moment, Lisa.

Thanks I’ll take a look right now.
