Moderator’s note: Moved to Howto.
Some advice please with my domain name woes. I have 2 sites with some crossover. They are running on the same EE install fine. I’ve installed MSM, but I think it’s irrelevant to this.
- http://mysite1.co.uk is the main site and reads fine from the it’s set with the the index set as homepage
- http://mysite2.com is a related site where I want the homepage to be from another template group example: “2ndsite”
(mysite1.co.uk and mysite2.com go to the same root and main index.php file)
So that’s all fine. I’ve done all these steps fine as well - http://expressionengine.com/docs/cp/sites/domainsetup.html and without any domain tinkering in the host control panel I can point to http://mysite1.co.uk/2ndsite/ and all is well with the world. But I want http://mysite1.com/2ndsite/ to actually be http://mysite2.com
The folder is in a dir the root here: 21//www/2ndsite
So I need to be able to tell http://mysite2.com that the index.php and path.php reside in /2ndsite/:
If I do this with a 301 direct (http://mysite2.com go here http://mysite2.com/2ndsite), then it always resolves with the segment, which is problematic when you start linking here and there so you end up with things like:
http://mysite2.com/2ndsite?/contact.php - Nasty.
I can’t change the domain root for http://mysite2.com (where the problem lies?) - I hazard a guess that the solution lies somewhere in .htaccess
Thanks in advance.
UPDATED: It should also be noted that I’m not worried adding segments, I just need the correct domain to display when someone lands at http://mysite2.com
