Hope this is the right place to post this.

Sense I put up the EE version of my web site I’ve seen it sink in ranking like a rock.

The site has been there 15 years and has always ranked #2 for its keyword.

The only change in the site is taking it from a sign built in Dreamweaver to a site built with EE.
    The content remains the same.

I have LG Better Meta installed, update Google web master tools with the new site map.
There are no sitemap errors or warning, the site map was accepted by Google but the new EE site is not being indexed even after 48 hours.

Any ideas on why google or yahoo for that matter will not index the new EE site and how I can fix it?

Thanks in advance for any insight or ideas.

Google and Yahoo! index my EE site without a glitch so I don’t think the problem is related to EE.
I am also still in the process of migrating my old site to EE (been a project for almost a year now!) and our ranking has not suffered.

Have you setup redirections? Google does not like it when old link break and I doubt the structure of your site has remained unchanged in the migration. The best solution then is to setup redirections from the old URLs to the new.

    Thanks for the assist, Benoît.

Depending on the number of pages you had previously, I’d use the Pages module to duplicate the old links.

That would be more of a HowTo topic, though.

I’m having this exact issue on a new site that’s been up for a few weeks now.  I have LG Better Meta installed and configured, and the sitemap in Google Webmaster Tools shows that it is OK and the 9 URLS, but that 0 of them are indexed.  I can’t for the life of me figure out why Google isn’t indexing the site.

It’s a small site, and I haven’t had this issue on any other site running EE configured the same way…

Neither can we, based on this description. Have you checked for error messages in the webmaster tools?

Do you have other sites linking into your site?  When you re-deployed the site did you use redirects to tell search engines where your new pages were?  And how well are you linking on your site to other pages on the site?

so it seems they haven’t recrawled your site since you launched a new one.  I would give it time, and if you have done a good job coding the site, have good strong external links & are linking appropriately within the site itself, you’ll see it improve.  Also remember 301 redirects from old pages to new pages are a good thing as well.

Thanks for the reply Greg - I’ve read through the forums at Google Webmasters as well and it supports what you’ve said, that it will probably take some time - it’s been about 3 weeks now, but the site is so small and really isn’t linked to from anywhere else on the web.

More than anything I just wanted to make sure I hadn’t done anything wrong with LG Better Meta.

    Thanks again 😊

I’m glad that makes sense.  Since the thread is a couple of months old, I’m going to close it out.  If anyone has any other questions, please don’t hesitate to start a new thread.
