I am the administrator of a site but it’s been over a year since I’ve had to login. I’ve always used a similar username and password to access the account. Unfortunately this time it’s not working. When I click forgot my password it says an email will be sent out, but I never get that email.

I saw the suggestion for logging in and creating a new user, but if I’m the admin this doesn’t work.

Where do I go from here?

dookie, if you have access to the backend you can change the new user’s group_id to 1 for SuperAdmin, and that should allow you to login as a SuperAdmin and change your password.

I’m not quite sure what you mean here. Backend as in access to all the files on the server? And what file do I make the group_id adjustment to, followed by, how do I login as a SuperAdmin if I don’t have a username and password?

I’m talking about using something like PHPMyAdmin to view the MySQL tables. the content is in the table called exp_members.

Of course that assumes that you actually have the login credentials of another user.
    Sent you a PM.

Not necessarily: if signups are open, you can always create a new memberm then “superadmin” him using the method Sue mentioned.

Anyway, I think this issue is resolved.

    dookie,

Can you let us know if you were able to login based on what Sue suggested?
