RSS "Spam"

I’ve got an RSS template on my site that I route through Feedburner for people to subscribe to. The RSS template is the one I grabbed from the wiki or something on here, and it works fine and dandy most of the time.

However, every once in a while, my feed will “spam” feedreaders with all the current entries in the feed, even though they’re old and have already been displayed. This morning, both of my RSS feeds did that. (two separate blogs/template groups with their own RSS template on the same installation of EE)

Any ideas why it might be doing that? I am more inclinded to say EE might be resending the information or something weird like that, since none of my Feedburner feeds that are linked to non-EE RSS feeds seem to do it, but I could be wrong…

I don’t think it’s actually your feed, it’s the reader that, for some reason, downloads old news items again. Not much you can do about it, it sometimes happens. Just make sure you publish a valid feed, and you should be fine.

Google Reader must just hate my feeds then hehe 😉 It happened on my account this morning and I’ve gotten a couple reports from other people that use Google Reader that my blogs both threw up in there today. I’m just a little baffled because it doesn’t happen with the other feeds in there either.

But, I mostly figured it was some weird anomaly that I couldn’t do anything about either way, I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. Thanks Ingmar!

I’m glad you and Ingmar got to the bottom of it.  Please don’t hesitate to start a new thread if anything else comes up!
