I was planning on creating a personal site/blog using EE. I also have a small commercial website which started as a hobby and has grown a bit and has a number of static pages that are a pain to maintain. I am considering a CMS such as EE solution to re-do the whole thing.

While I use EE for the personal website, I would like to evaluate EE to convert my current commercial website.

    - Can I start with a personal license and later upgrade to a commercial one + multiple site manager in order to host both under one license? If so, what is the cost of the upgrade?
    - Does anybody has any hosting recommendations to accomplish this?
I’m considering Enginehosting.com and MediaTemple, but am unsure which plans could help me accomplish what I mentioned above. I’m not sure if this requires a dedicated server or a shared plan would be enough. (I don’t have a problem in moving the commercial website to another place)

    Thanks for your help.

Hi, Juan - welcome to the forums!

Yes you can start off personal and upgrade later.  The cost of the upgrade is the difference in cost between the two licenses ($150) and if you wanted to add the MSM that would be an additional purchase.

Please note that all Sites under the MSM must have the same owner; they also share a membership database and can not be split out of the MSM, so you should consider that when deciding on the MSM as a solution.

We recommend EngineHosting but if you search the forum for “hosts” or “hosting” you’ll find other community recommendations.

Post back if you have any other questions!
