I don’t know whether anyone else is seeing this ..

I have uploaded the latest build 2090320 (personal license—RAW as it was downloaded) as a new installation (twice now) to a brand new domain with a brand new database .. as a default installation. The site is NOT publically viewable. Nothing has been modified from the basic installation instructions.

The Server is freeBSD running PHP as a server process.

The only variation is that I have renamed the system directory to a random name with 11 characters before FTP’ing it.

The server shows /themes/cp_global_images is where it should be and complete.

    **EDIT**
General Configuration: the URL to the themes folder and the theme folder path appear to be correct.

Normally, I use Opera as my working browser because it is faster (for me) than anything else.

When I look at the control panel, I am not seeing any images (in either default or classic theme); there are no icons displayed in “templates”

I do have build 20090122 on another (testing) domain on the same server and the CP images, icons are showing OK

Testing with IE, I get the sane result as with Opera
Testing with Firefox, the template icon is replaced with ‘view’ as a hyperlink. But what is even more disturbing, is that on CP Home ›  Admin ›  Weblog Administration ›  Category Groups, there is NO big green button to “cat_group_editor”

Now .. just to check again, I have tried this on two separate machines!

Sounds like your images might have gotten corrupted on upload?  Might try uploading the themes folder again from another machine / FTP client.

Downloaded a fresh copy of the build
Deleted the Themes Folder from the server
Re FTP’d the Themes folder on a different machine with a different FTP, repaired the database tables - same problem.

Set up another (testing) sub-domain and uploaded the previous build fom my archives .. no problem

Would you suggest that I scrub everything and try another completely new install with the fresh download?

    interesting.

What FTP client are you using?  Are you uploading the images in Binary format?

And no, your database and ExpressionEngine installation therein would have no effect on images.

Smart FTP latest build in one M/c and an earlier build in the other M/c

    File upload is Auto in both;

The question is .. why does everything work in the previous build and not the latest when I follow exactly the same procedure?

The only thing I haven’t tried is wiping the server and the database and uploading the whole installation from a fresh download.

Incidently .. for the file extraction I have used WinRAR for one themes folder and Stuff-It for the other.

I have never had any previous problems with either .. and I’ve not changed any settings/configurations on either local machine

I could be missing something, but I’ve think I’ve eliminated everything except a full upload of a fresh download.

You only need to upload the theme images, tulkul.  You do not need to do anything to the database or reinstall the software to fix an issue with images.  Try downloading a fresh copy from your downloads area.  Before downloading, disable any anti-virus or security software you might have running, don’t use Internet Explorer if you can avoid it, and unzip the software with your operating system’s built in utilities.  Then upload only the cp images in binary mode and try to access one with a direct HTTP request with your browser.

I just checked and went directly into the Server File Manager from the Server Control panel .. the images are all there and I can view all of them in the server File Viewer from ../themes/cp_global_images/

can you view them by visiting them in your browser?  Not in any kind of server control panel.  eg:  http://example.com/themes/cp_themes/default/images/bg_top.gif

Can you access the image directly at http://example.com/themes/cp_global_images/default/images/arrow_down.gif?  If that is the case, then the image files are fine and it would be a path issue, which we can certainly help with.

    OOOOPPPPSSS .. thanks Derek ..

Sorry about that .. found the issue in the one thing that I hadn’t yet checked .. the .htaccess.

I have a rewrite to stop image pilfering and had to change the format of “allowed” for this installation!

Please mark this as resolved; thanks for your quick responses and I appologise for missing this in amongst checking every other possibility! (smacks back of head ala Gibbs in NCIS)
