Hey Guys, I’ve been working on this website for a long time and I’m pretty stoked to announce it officially. My website is the CMS Design Resource. It features information for designers and developers about Content Management Systems like ExpressionEngine.

What I could really use your guys help on is lending your expertise as reviewers for ExpressionEngine, so new designers and developers will have an idea of what they’re getting themselves into. If you’re willing, head on over to the site and give EE a review?

I want to thank Jesse for putting together this website. There are a lot of CMS options out there right now…and a lot of freebies. I have been a happy EE customer for nearly two years now and think EE is a top contender no doubt! Besides having a solid engine (and soon to be even better with v2.0) I think the EE community is the best. If you look at all of my past posts, most have been questions and they were always answered very quickly…even if it meant some of the EE staff members skipped lunch to solve my problems.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my gratitude to the EE staff and community. In addition, I plan on sharing these positive experiences on sites like Jesse’s in hopes of swaying others to EE.

    Thanks everyone!

Interesting site. Good functional design. Builtwith.com tells me its running on Drupal and Wordpress - would have been nice if it had been on EE but you had to choose one! I can imagine that the visitor profile is not going to be regular visitors - once someone has made up their mind to invest their precious time into learning to build with a particular CMS it is unusual for them to change to another until it no longer does what they need it to do. Yes people will be looking around every so often but as an analogy when you purchase a new car you spend a lot of time looking for the right model at the right price and once you have bought it you tend not to look at cars with such enthusiasm until you need a new one - unless it’s a hobby in which case in theory all your regular visitors will be from geek and nerdom (is that a bad thing?). Having said that it is a welcome resource.

I see you already have a good amount of advertising on the site - how much are you paying authors for writing articles about the CMS they use?

    Hiya,

A very nice idea for a site. I commented yesterday on the ExpressionEngine page. Really like the design of the site and it looks like it could easily be set to become a great place for people to find out about all the different CMS systems out there.

Only thing I would ask for is a slightly bolder font perhaps? I usually don’t like reading Serif fonts as I just find them much harder to read especially when the darkness of the font is knocked back a bit. I’m probably just getting old but did find myself squinting a couple of times when pages had a lot of text on to digest.

Great site though and great idea, well done!

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Not really too sure what nerdom means but am I really

    geek |gēk|
    noun informal
1 an unfashionable or socially inept person.

Seems a bit harsh don’t you think? 😉

Hey guys, thanks a bunch for suggestions and reviews, much appreciated. (I’ll look into the font) Actually the site is just built on Wordpress, though I’m learning ExpressionEngine for a project at work, and wishing this site was built on it at times. Like you said, sometimes you just have to stick to what you know (Plus, there was a review plugin that did exactly what I wanted)

As far as the advertising, yeah it’s going pretty well so far. It helps when you offer advertisers a free month to start out. =) We’ll see how many stay on after that.

As far as writing articles, that’s a great question that I’ve been thinking about a bit. Have you ever written for other sites before? What have they paid you?
