I am not sure when it happened but I have some comments to open and when I check them and press submit, it redirects to Edit page and doesn’t change anything. The hosting was recently updated something this has something to do with it.

    Thanks
    Dave

    Hi, Dave_H

Which build and version of ExpressionEngine are you using? You can find that information at the bottom of any control panel page.

If you aren’t on the most recent build/version of EE, please upgrade so we can rule out file corruption. The most recent build/version is 1.6.7 build 20090211.

    Hi Sue

I upgraded from earlier version to 1.6.7 20090211 but still hasn’t sorted out the problem.

How much memory is allocated to PHP? You can find that by looking for memory_limit here:

128 MB should be plenty. When you say, “the hosting was recently updated something this has something to do with it” can you be slightly more specific? Did something change on the hosting side? If so, what exactly?

Also, let us know exactly what you are doing: there are comments, and you want to read and/or delete them via the control panel, is that it?

    Hi Ingmar

Yes it’s very strange. My hosting was upgraded to support php5 and control panel etc. So it is essentially the same except they imported my database into a new one. So maybe something went wrong there? Everything else seems to be fine.

I am trying to delete some spam and also open a comment.

Is there any way to reinstall the comment module without kiling the data?

You can certainly try re-uploading your EE files. All your comments are stored in the database, and as such will not be affected by replacing your files.

Re uploaded the module, but still nothing. I would like to re install the module but it says that all data associated will be cleared. What exactly could be lost?

    Dave,

reinstalling the module would wipe all your previous comments associated with it.

Could you try disabling your extensions. Not individually but with the green ‘Disable Extensions’ button . Using that button won’t affect the data.

    Hiya John

How you doing? Of course, the obvious thing to do! That worked. Thanks for all the help. It was the Notify Comment Author Redirect that was causing the problem. i didn’t even think to try the extensions as I never thought this was enabled. One strange think I did notice was that when I went into the Documentation on this extension, it is pointing to http://www.elixir.ch. Never heard of them.

Glad things are working again. Don’t hesitate to post again as needed.
